Won't the covers catch fire from the heat? That is one of the most common questions I get!
There is a potential risk when covering electric heaters, which is why we do not recommend covering electric heaters unless the manufacturer of the heater is willing to speak for the safety of doing so in writing. There are hydronic type electric heaters which should be safe, but again, it is best to ask the manufacturer before attempting to cover any electric heater.
With conventional forced hot water and steam heat, there is no risk whatsoever! The temperatures these systems run at are far below anything that could be a risk. While hot enough to scald skin, the approx. 190 degrees F these systems run at is very safe as far as combustion is concerned.
